Threadlifting (mesothreads) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses biocompatible threads to lift and firm the skin. It improves facial contours and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and folds.
Threadlifting is a minimally invasive procedure in which specialized threads are placed beneath the skin to create a supportive structure, resulting in improved firmness and a lifting effect. The method was widely developed in South Korea and is now considered an effective anti-aging treatment.
Threadlifting is also known as microlifting or 3D thread lifting; however, all these terms refer to the same underlying principle.
During the procedure, a thin, flexible needle is used to insert the threads into the subcutaneous layer. Once the needle is removed, the thread remains in place, forming an internal support framework that lifts and stabilizes the tissue.
In modern practice, PDO (polydioxanone) threads are most commonly used. These threads are biodegradable and gradually dissolve while stimulating collagen production, further improving skin quality over time.
